To enhance children’s environmental awareness and sense of social responsibility, on 24 July 2025, the Yiling Town Children Protection Centre organized a visit to Yangzhou Tianying EcoEnergy.
Through this on-site visit, the children gained first-hand insight into the process of transforming household waste into valuable resources, vividly experiencing the appeal of environmental technology.
Guided by local staff, the children toured the first-floor and second-floor exhibition halls, the central control room, and the operation room. The guide provided detailed explanations of waste-to-energy principles. Through real-time monitoring screens, children observed the waste bunker up close, gaining a vivid understanding of the entire process: from waste tipping, high-temperature treatment in incinerators, to thermal energy conversion into electricity via generators.
In the waste crane operation room, the children marvelled at the crane which is capable of handling six tonnes of household waste for each grab. ‘I never imagined household waste could be so useful,’ exclaimed one child. ‘I used to think rubbish only polluted the environment, but now I see it can generate electricity. I'll start to sort my waste from now on.’
The head of the Children Protection Centre stated that this activity aimed to cultivate habits of resource conservation and environmental stewardship among children. This visit broadens children's horizons and helps enhance their awareness of ecological conservation.
